  The sushi here was unbelievable. We had something called a mongoose roll that was deep-fried with crab and cream cheese. It was the best sushi roll I have ever had. We also ordered the rainbow roll and that was pretty good too even though I am not a huge sashimi lover. My wife loved it.
  
  The ambience was local, hole in the wall feel but not dirty. Really clean. Appropriate decor.
  
  The service was satisfactory. They weren't overly kind or friendly but honestly, bring me that sushi and don't talk to me, right?!?
  
  It's perfectly situated next to lots of tourist shops and a tasty shave ice place a half mile away.
  
  Go here. Good stuff.

  Mahalo for an excellent dining experience!   We arrived at Shiono without a reservation, but was greeted with the warmest aloha by the hostess.   Prices, as expected and atmosphere was outstanding and the food...WOW!! The deluxe boat was superb!  Would I ever come back?!?
  
  Shiono and all it's  merchants that is paying to occupy the space in the Alii Sunset Plaza needs to stand up for your patrons.   The parking situation is a joke!   Diamond Parking and Alii Sunset management is hurting your business for both visitors and the local community.   Reading all the YELP reviews for Alii Sunset Plaza is a shame!  
  
  After a fabulous dining experience and leaving your establishment, we found an envelope tucked under my windshield wiper.   Upon reading it, the incompetent parking attendant noted "observed walk thru upper driveway to C. Grove".  We parked on the 2nd level of the parking lot, walked south bound to the lower level to get to Shiono's.   There is no stair case within the parking lot from the 2nd or 3rd level to get to the lower level unless one walks either to the north or south end of the parking area to get to the lower area.    Bottom line is, Alii Sunset Plaza management and Diamond Parking is killing your business establishments and driving patrons away due to this broken parking lot situation, literally harassing your patrons by leaving parking notices on vehicles and those that doesn't or won't stand up to these parking notices is being financially robbed.   I do understand what Alii Sunset Plaza is trying to do for the merchants, but this is "ghetto", "laziness", "poorly planned", "poorly operated" and done in a very unprofessional way.  
  
  Simple fix...secure the parking area with electronic arms, electronic ticket dispensers and a pay booth.   Have signs posted.   Have the tickets validated at those merchants.   Those that illegally use the parking area to venture into other establishments should then be charged an automatic $50.00 fee at the booth to control parking.   Easy fix that cost money, but it's the money that these establishments won't see from lost patrons like myself.  
  
  I love Shiono, but I won't be having my next dining experience at Alii Sunset Plaza!!!  
  
  Thank you Shiono for your hospitality and especially to your hostess.   It's people like herself that makes you want to go back regardless of the price of dining, but not at the price of parking .

  This place is always our back up for cancelled plans.  For me, in my house, this is my first choice.  Others dont like sushi that much.   The other japanese food is great and i have yet to taste one that I dont like.

  Best sushi we've ever had. Of course, the only sushi we've had is from the mainland. Service was fantastic. We got the fried CA roll and the spicy mongoose roll. Both were amazing! (Excuse the half eaten rolls. We dug in before taking a picture.)

  We had the salmon and tuna sashimi, yellowtail, uni and fried hamachi. I was disappointed that their only fresh fish was the tuna. Everything else was imported. Nonetheless the sushi was fairly decent and the service was great.
